Glad I found this place, lots of good information. I have a BC785D without the digital add in and ARC250 software. I believe I have everything set up and working properly. I am mainly interested in the Arlington TRS.

A few questions:

I assume that ID Scan scans the programmed talkgroup ID's in the radio and ID Search scans the programmed frequencies for new ID's? Which should you use? What difference does it make? Speed?

Is there any best way to organize the talk group ID's? I just have a continuous list of PD and Fire talk groups in Bank 1. Got the talkgroup info here.

Does Lockout lock out the frequency or the talk group ID?

I don't actually have the 785 model, but the 296. I am assuming they work the same. Someone correct me if they don't.

Yes, that is my understanding of id scan and id search.

ID search is good if you want to periodically find new IDs. On the 296 you can also find new IDs in scan mode if you have a particular flag set, but you don't actually hear them.

As far as speed, I can't tell any difference between id scan and id search.
