Last night around 11:15pm local on my way home caught that fatal police chase on DSP dispatch main talkgroup 800 system that Newport Police shares with DSP.
Heard trooper come on and ask why are you chasing this guy?
No reply as minute later car wrecked out in New castle and Newport PD asked for Fire and ambulance.Innocent driver killed.

Now I know the runner ultimately caused this fatality but am sure questioning like others why this chase took place.I'm not sure Newport cops from tiny small town should be chasing cars at 100mph out of town for no good reason.

That Newport Delaware Gestapo Police Chief Capriglione had no comment as to reason why.
Stay tuned for this story and how it pans out...

Are you suggesting the cops there are initiating pursuits just for the fun of it? How do you know what their reason may have been? While it is truly unfortunate that an innocent person was killed in this tragedy, I don't believe in letting someone go just because they feel they don't need to play by the rules and stop when the red lights are flashing in your rear view mirror. The idiot was driving with a suspended license, now he's facing a murder rap. What a dope.

Today's follow up article said original offense was speeding.
Knowing this speed trap tiny town and their penchant for making money I just possibly thought that this officer was a little gung-ho in chasing this punk down.
Seems according to this article this officer has history of high speed pursuits and of course his dash cam was not operating...hmmmm.
I think for original traffic offenses like this kid commited officer should have backed off pursuit and used radio for County/State police assistance.
Wasn't like he robbed a bank or shot somebody.
However agreed the lesson is if you see those lights flashing pull over or get out of the way.

From reading the article, sounds like the guy would have killed someone regardless of whether or not the cops were pursuing him.
