The last couple of days, here on the treasure coast of SE FL around Port St. Lucie, I was getting scanner hits for P25 on 800 MA TAC 2, MA TAC 3 and FL MA. I did not trust the scanner was really telling me the truth until today. Today I am getting solid signals with traffic on all MA CALLING and MA TAC channels. These are from fixed stations and not mobile in nature. Most are encrypted with NAC 3C1. I am also hearing some clear coms with the same NAC, and one hit for NAC 167 in the clear. There is also a great deal of P25 activity on 167.4875 (B of I) NAC 167 at the same time. This is the only "B of I" P25 channel I have heard so far. Most coms are encrypted (not all...base 300 was confirmed) and the pattern fits that these radio systems are being setup and tested at this time. This is a big transition going on NOW.

Anyone else in FL hearing this?

Phil

NOTE: I also posted this on the Florida Forum, but since this activity appears to be connected to the "B of I" I posted it here as well. I put those MA freqs with P25 just for $#!+$ and giggles. I never expected them to light up with ENC no less!

Encryption on the interop channels. Sheesh. This sort of thinking is why there will never be a nationwide interoperable single radio network.

False Alarm!

I was duped! I started to notice the scanner pausing on the MA channels with PL, so I removed the PL and heard images. The P25 ENC must be from my county system which the scanner is getting images from. New scanner...new things to learn about it!

Sorry for the false alarm. I do know the FL MA channel in Ft. Lauderdale has P25 on it...heard it on my XTS300 as one of the system ops did a demo of it.
