I have a Kenwood NX5700 and it is programmed with spencer co ems and so with the information on listed in the database but do not receive anything. Does anyone have any info on their system? Also does anyone have information on any other NXDN system information in the state that can be used to program my NX5700 or NX800?

There are a couple of things you need to look at:

There are two versions of NXDN, "Narrow" and "Very Narrow".
Narrow is for 12.5KHz
Very Narrow is for 6.25KHz.
You -must- have this set correctly. If the agency you are trying to listen too is "very narrow" and your radio is set to "narrow", it will not decode. The bit rate is different.

Try setting the RAN code to 0. This should unsquelch for any RAN.

If they are running encryption, your radio may mute depending on how it's set up.

You should see something on the RSSI display if you are on the right frequency.

NXDN

I have the correct frequencies and the ran is set to what's listed but I have both channel programmed to narrow. Spencer county is a conventional nxdn system, I do not believe they are encrypted like nelson co law.

NXDN icom

Spencer co is using Icom nxdn which I just realized only operates in 6.25KHz so that is most likely the reason for not receiving anything.

There ya' go. The native Icom stuff is 6.25KHz. I understand they are selling some "Kenwood" compatible radios that will do 12.5KHz and 6.25KHz. Rumor is it's Kenwood guts in an Icom box.

Either way, the signal level display (RSSI indicator, "Bars") should show something even if it's not set right. It won't decode if it's set wrong, you won't even hear garbled traffic, just nothing.

NXDN

Thank you very good information I'm trying to understand nexedge programming and I learn something new everyday about it. Are there any NXDN ham repeaters in the kentucky area?
