Nextel SIM card question

Having worked for Nextel both directly and indirectly and having hacked the software/phones beyond belief in the past hopefully I can answer this question correctly
the only issue that should show up is MMS (Multi-Media Messaging)...the i530 was not an MMS capable phone...you might have to call in to Care and have them correctly provision you for MMS...you might have to register the MSN from the i580 to be able to receive/send MMS...if customer care gives you a tough time just tell 'em to dummy the MSN out...they will know what that means....

I went to and signed up for those forums and from the "howardforums" All I get told is my threads are in the wrong spot or my thread gets locked or SEARCH. I searched and when I cannot find my answer they blow me off. Really not friendly folks.

I went and signed up for "meogee" and it wont let me start new threads due to a registration error on their end. When you sign up, you are supposed to get an email to activate the account and it never comes.

Also, Marshall how come you wont respond to my PM's?

Nextel, the way business gets done.

My suggestion would be to go to the local Nextel store (corporate, of course) and make friends with the sales reps there. A few minutes of talking with them and they will make the transfer for you. I took my wife and she sweet talked them...that always works.

I, too, think that Sprint is messing up Nextel.

If you have the USB cord, which was sent out to most of the customers about a year ago, you can download the iDEN Phonebook Manager (http://idenphones.motorola.com/iden/support/software/organizer_upd.jsp) and read the data from the SIM card itself. You can then connect it to the new phone, with the new SIM, and write the data to the new SIM card.

I should have warned ya...HoFo is a tough place for newbies...all of the info is there you just kind of have read over all of the sticked threads....try reading over this do-it-yourself Webjal site I created awhile back:

Now the above is assuming you have a Nextel datacable (either USB or serial)....read it over step by step....

Uh yeah...that is the same exact forum I linked to earlier in this thread (HoFo)...he already stopped by there...but you are right HoFo is a good place to learn info
