Why are there so many SMR 800 MHz frequencies licensed to Nextel in Sheboygan County? I counted 180 frequencies and put them into the scanner but haven't heard anything except for one group of 5 frequencies which have what sounds like LTR data bursts and morse code ID's but no voice traffic.

Because it takes a lot of channels to build a 'cellular like' network.

The five frequencies are LTR.

I put each frequency into the first 20 channels in five banks and this is what the scanner showed when the morse code IDs become active.
The morse code ID is active every 15 minutes on each frequency.

855.8125 0-02-253
856.8125 0-01-253
857.8125 0-02-253
859.8125 0-02-253
860.8125 0-02-253

According to the FCC license these frequencies are being transmitted from a 300 ft tower owned by Lakeshore Technical College near Weeden Creek Road and I-43 in Sheboygan.

If anyone knows anything, please reply.

Thanks, mas
