Yes the x36 does not work well on my County's P2 simulcast system even with the latest firmware update. It's all about location, location, location.

Chuck you should think about getting a new radio, the GRE psr-800 was a great radio but it was designed 20 years ago.

Do your best to try to find out what that nxdn system is Chuck. You might very well find someone who will share it with you.

Everyone thanks and will keep u informed of my findings. Take Care.

I have one question. In the software programming a psr-800. On the trunked tab at the bottom when i click that it goes to trunked settings . At the top you can pick differents types p-25 or motorolla ect. Does that have to be picked to set up scanner. I am not sure exactly how this works and might be my problem. Can anyone give me a step by step and then how to change scanner. Thanks...

I have got scanner working again alot. I would like to know how to figure out Niles Police frequency I have it at 11p619 at trunking and how do I figure local michigan state policeoutof the niles post if anyone know . And to all who have helped so far thanks . Once I get this dialed in I will save the file and download so I can help others. And if anyone can anwser my question from above thanks.

That's the MPSCS I mentioned earlier. You need to add the P25 system, using the sumnerville tower and Talkgroup 13026.

You'll probably want to add Common South as well, you'll get Niles Township.

I noticed project 25 works the best on a psr-800. What is the common south you are talking about. How do you find this. And what is this mpscs you are talking about and how do you add it. ??

Don't worry about how to set up a system (P25/Motorola/Etc.). That has already been done for you. The files that I sent you are using the Michigan MPSCS P25 system with the Sumnerville site. I have added a fifth scan list to your file. It is Berrien Interop. That includes 3290 South Common. You already have 13026 Niles PD in the Niles Michigan 2 file. The Niles state police post is in Scan List 4. You will still get the state police if Berrien Co and/or Niles PD have switched to NXDN. All of this doesn't matter anyway if you can't copy your configuration to the scanner. Here is the new file, Niles Michigan 3, including Scan List 5 Berrien Interop. Restore from Archive and Copy Configuration to Scanner Memory/SD Card as per my previous instructions. If you succeed copying to the scanner, there will be 5 scan lists displayed.

If you hear Niles City PD on 11p619, that is TGID 13026 on the MPSCS system. That means that you will hear Niles City PD on the file that I sent you. I didn't know there is both a Niles City and Niles Township. I changed Niles PD to Niles City PD in the updated Niles Michigan 4 file. Do not use Miles Michigan 3. If you hear Niles City PD, that must have been in the old library since you have been unable to copy to the scanner. If you can figure out how to copy the configuration to the scanner, there is no need to continue using the library. Everything is in the Niles Michigan 4 file. The alpha tags on the talkgroups have all been renamed in my file to something you can understand. How are you supposed to know that 11p619 is Niles City PD? In my file the talkgroup is labelled Niles City PD. That is why I do my own programming. Here is the updated file: Niles Michigan 4. Restore from Archive and Copy Configuration to Scanner Memory/SD Card as per my previous instructions.

The PSR-800 and the Whistler scanners save files as zipped files. They also load the same zipped files directly. Do not extract the files. Restore From Archive using the zipped file as is.

It worked flawlessly . All scan list are in. Do you know in the setting options on scanner when you scroll down through the settings and you get to G Attention mode should that be checked. G Attent ON should that be checked. Search Dg AGC should that be checked. G AGC Mode should that be checked. G AGC ON should that be checked.I have them all checked now and i am experimenting. Again thanks a lot you are awesome.

Attentuation mean reduce sensitivity. If there is a strong signal causing problems turn it on, usually it will be off.

AGC automatic gain control, helps to keep volume similar across the scanned freqs. Set it how you prefer, probably on.

The attenuation should be off unless the receiver is overloading. It will reduce your signal strength and possibly cause receive problems. With P25 systems, AGC can amplify problems if you have simulcast distortion. That is why I set the AGC to off. Leave everything in the file settings alone. Do not check anything that wasn't. If you start changing settings without knowing what they do, you will ruin the reception. Do not change the file I sent you. You will need it to get the scanner working again once you foul everything up. Were you able to copy the configuration to the scanner? Are you receiving everything OK now?

Simulcast is where you have multiple towers in a site all transmitting the same data at the same time.. If you receive more than 1 tower at a time, the receiver is unable to properly decode the control channel due to time differences between the signals. The Uniden SDS100 and SDS200 were designed to overcome that problem.

So Chuck I have been following the thread all along. It appears now that you have the configuration that TV engineer sent you, it looks like he carefully set it up to include everything you needed and all of the settings where adjusted to be appropriate.

You don't want to be a changing any of the settings that he chose.

Let's see what you pick up later today. We are trying to determine if you are getting Niles police calls. What else are you picking up on the configuration that TV engineer sent you?

I think his intentions were to set you up the best you can be on those scan list. It's best to leave everything exactly the way he configured it.

Time to monitor carefully and let everybody know what you're hearing, especially what's pertinent to where you live.

Keep listening for Niles PD. Earlier you said that you heard them as 11P619. If you look on the MPSCS system, 11P619 is the alpha tag for TGID 13026 which is Niles City PD. That is programmed in your file. Please let me know if you hear it.

Good point Jim, I was wondering about that too. It could even be a rebroadcast of the nxdn system. That could be a good find if true. If that were the case it would only be the dispatch channel, nothing secondary.

As I had mentioned before we have a nxdn system that does that but only the dispatch 1 channel. That would work for me LOL.
