Are any of the VTAC channels listed in RR ever used?? I was thinking of programming them in my radio.

Thanks,

They're nationwide; not just NJ. I haven't ever heard them used put someone reported them being used at a water search and rescue mission in Toms River.

Thanks.

By the looks of it, they didn't seem to relevant. I guess the UHF UASI are more used. I did hear Little Falls or Totowa use it for flooding awhile ago.

I have them programmed into my scanner and hear some activity on them from time to time. I know at times SPEN 1 is patched to I think UTAC-4 or 5 i would have to listen to my recording logs and see. If you have the room to program them into your radio I would.

I know during drills I've done with Paramus PD ESU and other agencies involved, we've never directly used them because our public service system is on UHF (from the PD-stand point) so there is no reason to have V-Tac's set up in separate portables. Although, there have been a few instances where we've drilled with either the NJSP or other local agencies where the NJSP would obviously use I-Tac's and those who would normally operate on VHF would use the V-Tac's unless they were able to get monies for UHF or 800 Mhz radios. By far, the U-Tac's are use most frequent, followed by the 800 Mhz. Outside of drilling, there is not much traffic on the V-Tac frequencies assiged to UASI.

I know Allendale and Ramsey have the U-Tacs in their radios. I haven't actually heard them bu t I know they are in there I wouldn't be surprised if Paramus do too. There's a lot of options one has with 32,64, even more channels!!
