I monitor the NJSP on my pro2096 and I am hearing less and less. I was told by a friend of mine that rebanding is under way and the new 700 MHZ is playing a major role. That's all he really knows, as he says all that matters to him is when he keys the mic, it works.

Does anyone know about the rebanding - what are they rebanding to?
What is this new 700 MHZ system, how can I get the Freq for the system.
It seems that I have a lot of questions and no answers, I tried searching the RR forums and data base with know luck. I live in Burlington County and monitor "A" "C" Troops.

My friend from /\/\ is running that project - nothing in play for 700 MHz. All that is going down is the relocation of the 866-868 frequencies to 851-863.

It's a common misconception that rebanding has anything to do with the 700 mhz migration. It doesn't. It's a shame that the migration in the TV band is happening at the same time as rebanding - it's causing a great deal of confusion 73 Mike

The rebanding has nothing to do with 700mhz. Sprint-Nextel rebanded radios furnished as changeouts don't even have 700 mhz in them. They are special reband models such as XTS2500rb. They have to be flashed by Motorola to enable 700. Sprint-Nextel has been very stingy not that I can blame them.
Anyone that added anything such as digital to their system did it at their own expense. No encryption unless you were running encryption on the radio you turn in.

Government agencies are way behind in this rebanding.

Yes all traffic seems normal on troop A and C here. Systems like Cherry Hill and Camden recently rebanded but none moved to 700 MHz. Like mentioned above they just moved thier 866-868 channels down to 851-853. Those are the only systems I monitor that have been effected yet. If something were to change on any of the NJSP systems there's plenty of people on here monitoring the systems 24/7 with unitrunker. We would probably know sooner than later whats happening.

Simple answer:

Just the ones in the data base.

Dave

Dave hit it right on the head! There has been no official move yet to the new lower frequencies. Most people have no idea how long it takes to reprogram that many mobiles & portables...

During the re-banding process, until everyone has the new frequencies installed, it is common practice to have both systems up and linked so it is amost trasparent to the end user. Once everyone has been installed with the new frequencies, the old system is simply shut down and the old 866 frequency range shut off.
