"The pilot program is under a cloud due to a potential conflict between two standards used to determine the timing of yellow lights, Dee said."

Notice how he clouds the issue with the word potential when I see a DEFINITE conflict.

"According to Dee, the DOT uses a national standard based on a road’s posted speed limit."

That makes sense.

"But the pilot program’s legislation requires a standard based on the actual speed of vehicles approaching an intersection."

And HOW may I ask is that determined? Speed depends on traffic congestion, you can't put a fixed value on a variable.

“There’s a difference, but it’s not necessarily incompatible,” said Dee.

The DoT should reconsider having a bird brain for a spokesman. Then the one who set the "standards" for the pilot program should be shot but I digress.

Red and Yellow, and Green
Prettiest thing I'd ever seen
You know it's Red and Yellow, and Green
Lord this world treat a little child mean.

Goin' a home from school today
I met a nice man on my way
He gave me a traffic light, shiny and clean
Prettiest thing I ever seen.

Daddy left my mama but I won't cry
Hold my traffic ligfht to my eye
Hold it there, night and day
Hold it 'til the hurt goes away

Heard yesterday my daddy was dead
Cried until my little heart bled
That was bad, but then today
Policemen come and take my mama away.

Police got a padlock on our door
I can't go home anymore
I'd go back, but if I do
The man that got my mama gonna get me too

So I keep
Red and Yellow, and Green
Prettiest thing I ever seen
You know it's Red and Yellow, and Green
Lord this world treat a little child...
Red and Yellow, Red and Yellow,
Pretty Thing, Pretty...
Pretty...

We live in New Jersey. This really shouldn't surprise you.

Posted by the AP on 25 July, we again have to pay attention to all traffic light cameras. Game over, set and match. NJ clears way for red-light camera tickets - www.phillyburbs.com: Nj: general news, state legislature, legislature, government and politics, state governments

The media kind of accidentally helped this a few weeks ago when a video (Roselle Park, NJ Red-Light Safety Cameras Catch Horrific Red-Light Running Collision - YouTube) from Roselle Park's ATS Road Safety red light camera made prime-time national news on ABC World News Tonight. The timing was kind of convenient.

Ouch. That must have ruined someone's day.

The guy who ran the light was DWI alcohol. No serious injuries to anyone. Cops definitely weren't happy. It happened with about an hour to shift change.
