FYI: NJ UTAC Frequencies under Common Shared in the NJ RR Data Base (North East UASI) Besides the dedicated PL tone for each freq NJUTAC 4 through 8. They are now also using P25 Digital (In the clear). Most P25 Mode Activity has been monitored on NJUTAC-4 and NJUTAC-5 and in lesser amounts on NJUTAC 6, 7 & 8

I just confirmed that they are using the default Motorola NAC of $293, and all units are sending the UID of 1. Getting multiple transmissions on 4 & 5 here on my 5000 (I love mixed-mode receive!).

UTAC4 is not P25 capable - unless you are hearing units on direct.

The recent P25 traffic on on NJUTAC-5 has been related to the incident in Fairfield NJ. Depending on what agency that has been assisting the Fairfield. Their "Command Post" has been handling Mixed Mode traffic both analog and P25.
The P25 traffic on the remaining NJUTACs 6,7 & 8 has been mostly testing and minimal.
I have heard P25 on NJUTAC-4 as early as of the Spring 0f 2009 and it was repeaterized? It just possible they have improved the system to handle P25.

Thanks

I might have mis-quoted what I saw on my screen (about 4) - but 5 has been quite busy with the P25 traffic Ken mentioned...

Based on my memory: UTAC4 and ITAC5 should both be on Spectratac voted systems with no plans to move them to AstroTac 3000's (required for digital).

UTAC5 I can't remember if the infrastructure supports it - but 6/7/8 are simulcast and mixed mode with AstroTac 3000's comparators. I think I've heard encrypted traffic on these and some of the 800 interop channels here and there.

Alex is correct. They have not updated NJUTAC4 to support P25, so if you are hearing digital comms, it's simplex. NJUTAC5 through 8 are both mixed mode and W2SJW is correct..NAC $293.

I actually goofed on my post.... UTAC 6 I think is South NJ, and that is still analog. 5, 7 and 8 should be "north" and be p25 simulcast/voted.

UTAC6 has been up and running for years up North. It is primary for Morris County as a matter of fact. It's also simulcast....I believe the Morris County site is up on the top of Hanover Ave.

Is there a difference between ITAC AND UTAC. Can ITAC 5 be scanned? What scanner is necessary for this? Can I get it on a Radio Shack Pro 91 or do I need one of the $500. models? I am not really understanding your answers, can you dumb it down for me, please.

The more expensive scanners would be nice, but not mandatory

... and the Us are in the UHF range.

Tom,

The answer to your question is yes, there is and yes, it can. Any scanner will do. Just be aware that if a mode other then analog is used on any of the below frequencies, and your scanner can not decode digital, then you'll be unable to monitor the traffic being passed - that's all.

(CTCSS 156.7, unless otherwise specified, if analog; or NAC 293 if digital)

I & UTACs

Hey ScanDEL,

Learn something new every day. I did not even relize ther was an NJ I-TAC 6 859.7875! Thanks:D!
Also in your last post need a clarification on I-COM 866.875 (also new to me) Since it is licensed to Bergen County WPLU645 noted in the DB as primarily for their MDTs. However according to the info on their license they could also use it for voice traffic.

Thanks

NJ I -TAC 800 Mhz Frequencies

Thanks to ScanDEL, I have updated the NJ Common Shared RR DB to show
NJ I-TAC6 859.7875 PL 156.7.
Also, I would like to know has anyone monitored any APCO P25 activity on the I-TAC 800 MHz frequencies especially the NJ ITAC frequencies:roll:?

Thanks:D

ITAC 5/6 should be P25 capable thanks to rebanding. I'll confirm this and update the DB in the next couple of days.

NJ I-TACs 5/6

Alex C,

Thanks for checking. I would think since now the NJ U-TACs are P25 capable and have monitored P25 mode in use on these frequencies
(especially during the recent Fairfield incident) though I have yet to hear P25 on their I-TAC channels, the next logical step is to have this capacity.

Thanks:D

JMatt,

Yes they have been re-banded but there is still a transition going on. There is still activity on the "older" frequencies and sometimes you will hear activity on the original I-TAC and the re-banded one.
For example "old ITAC-1" will be simulcast on the re-banded ITAC-1
