i seriously cant believe this is still a thing. The state hasn't hired any new flight medics or nurses. There is no new medevac CentralSTAR. SouthSTAR has not run medical calls in years. This speculation crap is too much.

The state has done nothing but make budget cuts and drop services what would change that all of a sudden? Did they hire Nicholas Cage and he discovered a hidden treasure somewhere? The state didnt go out and spend millions secretly on a new helicopter or even a used one to add to its fleet. If the state was planning on a new medevac we would've 100% heard something by now. Until anything is official stop speculating!

The medical crews are University Hospital staff, so its possible they put another crew on for an event. UHEMS is always hiring Medics and RNs

Let's put this to rest this is from a source at REMCS, CentralStar is put into service when there is a VIP mission in the case of the other day it was the Governors In inauguration. Central because they would be operating from Mercer Field.

Also, I was told that Southstar Medevac could be put back in service it in the Governors office
to fund that vital service.

Have no idea what medic program will take this on Southstar remember it was the Virtua medics who staffed Southstar last.

Following is my opinion.

Hope the medevac thing comes to pass, State of New Jersey should never give up on it's JEMSTAR
program. My opinion bye bye private helicopters and put a South, Central and Northern state
run medvac and be done with it I station them in Morris - Ocean and on the Atlantic / Cape May county line and done with it, call the private for Mutual aid only.

Those who are EMT's Medics and Medevac staff and EMS Communications Staff who visit here
THANK YOU for your service god knows in the state of New Jersey EMS is the third forgotten service
sad to say.

It would really be nice to have SouthStar back, but the problem was never the ship itself. The medics, Virtua, were not getting enough calls to stay sharp with all the other ships getting put up. Theres like 5 other birds down there now, Pennstar, Jeffstat, Medevac 5 & 6, Monoc1 all took away from SouthStar. also since they werent getting jobs, and the state wasnt fully defraying the cost of staffing, Virtua was taking it on the chin financially. Without a total overhaul of the system, eliminating the privates or giving SS first right of refusal on any job below 195, no ALS agency is going to put a bid in for the service.

Someone could put a bid in tomorrow and we could have SouthStar back, it just wont happen with the way things are now.

The problem wasn’t the private medevacs, it was Virtua. Once they affiliated with Penn, all of their interfacility transports began using PennSTAR. The other area medevacs has nothing to do with it. Scene calls only equate to about 25% of the total call volume, increasing to MAYBE 35% in the summer.
