How can you have 2-3 different Zone Numbers for one Zone??????????

Parsippany-Troy Hills Twp. in Morris County in Netcong's area is Zone 10. In Totowa's area it is Zone 1. So it is possible to have multiple zone numbers for one town.

Honestly, I really don't pay much attention to them. Most if the time even if a zone number is used the trooper gives the location anyway.

How many times have I heard a trooper say "Zone 10, 80 EB, 44.2, Parsippany". For us listening it really makes no difference if they call in a zone or not.

Route 15 is mostly covered by the locals. Very rarely at least for me do I hear a sussex trooper call in a stop on Rt. 15. But it does happen on occasion.

Sussex Station is a GP "General Police" coverage station. They provide basic police service for towns who do not have their own Dept. So if Rt. 15 is in one of those towns theoretically they can stop cars on Rt. 15. I believe Sussex is the only station that does not patrol an interstate highway. Not to mention the fact that they have statewide jurisdiction, so they can stop you anywhere.

Each station has their own patrol zones. It doesn't go by what channel they are operating on or each town having a designated zone for all stations. For instance Milville City is zone 6 for the Port Norris Station and is Zone 12 for the Bivale Marine Station. Same with Lawrence Twp, zone 5 for Port Norris Station and zone 8 for Bivale Marine station. Follow? I'm sure there are many others. Kind of confusing the way they did that but thats the way it seems. Also I can't be 100% certain my list is 100% correct. I know from listening its mostly correct.

Well whatever, I live in the Fairfield Twp.,Lawrence Twp.,Port Norris,Bridgeton area. And I know what stations cover what area`s and a lot of them numbers just don`t jive. I still find it hard to believe they would make It that confusing for the Trooper`s the way they bounce them from station to station. Oh and FYI Bivale Marine is in Port Norris.

I believe Kingwood does not have an Interstate either. Maybe also Washington (Warren County). Just my impression - not confirmed

Thanks, r60. I actually had the channel in my scanner, though. I was really looking for the zone number (i.e. zone 17). There was an incident on Rt. 440 last night, and I thought I heard someone say zone 29 or zone 33, but I can't be sure.

For us listening zone numbers are useless. They are only used in conjunction with the CAD system. Most times but not all, the Trooper will say the municipality anyway.

Yeah, true. The only thing about knowing the zones is that since NJSP is so busy, if you know ahead of time when the trooper calls in a stop or other incident in an area you don't care about, you can just zip ahead to the next channel. And once in a while I have heard troopers dispatched to MVC's where the dispatcher gives a zone and a mile marker, but no town, and no actual highway number. This is always frustrating ! D<:{

Washington station covers I-78 from PA to I believe MP 5.

Washington station comes up to milepost 7 at the Warren/Hunterdon county line. Perryville takes over at mp 7 and continue east up to the 287 interchange. (Perryville cars do stop west of mp 7 but official responsibility is assigned to Washington.)

I think you are correct. It used be out of Perryville, but Washington picked up the far western section. I hear a lot more stops between zero and seven than I did in the past.
