Recently bought a ex-NJTA work truck off of GovDeals after a few months of owning it a APX 1000 fell out from the seat, I read its codeplug and wanted to share here what was in it. Looks to have a few things not on the database here but also looks to have some conflicts. Here's a bunch of photos of inside the codeplug

Clearly that truck was decommissioned on a Friday at about 3:30pm.... :ROFLMAO:

This is my worst nightmare, when some whacker gets a hold of a codeplug and all the talkgroups get leaked.

I mean....he bought and paid for it. I personally wouldn't have posted it, but.... :ROFLMAO:

Cool.. Now return their property. You bought the truck not the radio

He actually did buy the radio. If you read the fine terms of GovDeals and GovPlanet, there is actually a caveat that the agency or entity is responsible for removing any equipment, parts, and accessories they wish to retain from any item listed. If not removed it's considered part of the sale. So, yeah, someone clearly messed up. But legally and contractually....it's his now.

Not the first time it's happened on GovDeals, doubt it'll be the last. I mean, I wouldn't have posted it, but....lol.

A few of those talk groups that are not listed in the database I was aware of, and I knew that they existed however, I was never able to 100% confirm them through my contact with the NJTA at the time that I was looking at their radio. At least we can update the database with the various talk groups, but I also agree that some of the other more technical screenshots should be removed from being posted.

OP submitted these talkgroups to the database, and I hit the pause button and asked him to post his findings here first for discussion. Of course I didn't think he would post screenshots of the actual codeplug, maybe just a list of the talkgroups found, but whatever. Let's try to keep the discussion focused on whether the talkgroups are valid.

That said, I'm not inclined to blindly add talkgroups from a 5.5 year old codeplug which may or may not still be valid, especially since there are some conflicts between what is already in the RRDB vs what is in that codeplug. While we do allow data from codeplugs to be submitted, we have guidelines for how that data is processed, and frankly this doesn't quite meet the standard. We're going to need confirmation from monitoring. Btw I'd point out that there hasn't been a submission or update to this system since early 2023, so it doesn't seem all that popular, otherwise I would think we'd have had updates by now.

Some submissions may include radio programming data extracted from programming files commonly known as "codeplugs" or "personalities." This data may be used under the following conditions:
  • Frequencies and sites must be confirmed by monitoring to avoid conflicts with existing systems.
  • Talkgroups do not "pre-date" information already in the database. Where talkgroups already exist in the database, an effort must be made to verify whether the database data or the codeplug data is the most recent and up-to-date.

Based on what I see posted in the screenshots above and my regular monitoring of this system, I have to say that it's valid at 99.44%. The only conflict I see is talkgroup 46 listed twice. It's listed as HQ Security and GSP Patron Services North in the codeplug. And then I submitted it as Trades to the database a few years ago when I looked at an NJTA radio. I'm inclined to say that TG 46 is GSP Patron Services North. When I ran Unitrunker on the day that I looked at my contact's radio, TG 46 came up on Unitrunker, but my contact was going through the radio a bit too fast for me while I was writing down notes. As a side note, they did not have the HQ Security talkgroups in their radio. Otherwise, all of the other talkgroups listed was in their radio within different zones, and if it wasn't for the discrepancy with a part of my Unitrunker data on that day, I would have submitted the other unlisted talkgroups to the database back then. However, because I wasn't 100% satisfied with the data from that zone in the radio from that day, I did not submit it to the database for fear of it being incorrect. And now I see that TG 46 that I had listed as Trades Division might be incorrect, so that will need additional monitoring as well. Perhaps the Trades Division was using an alternate talkgroup that day and I might have mixed up my notes? Also to note that talkgroup 52 - Toll Collector Emergency is not listed in the codeplug, but I know 100% that it's a valid talkgroup based on my observations.

@GM I would prefer a submission come from someone like you who is local and reliable and active throughout most of the state. No offense to the OP but he's out of state and has probably never monitored the system personally. At the end of the day, at least we have a discussion going on a system that has gone a bit state in the RRDB.

THANK YOU - don't mind the RR Police here, this answers a lot of my unanswered questions on that system.

I’m working with a few forum members to verify all of the talk groups as stated in the code plug above. So far, we only find the one discrepancy that I had noted in a previous post regarding Talkgroup 46. I’m also going to see if I can reach out to my contact that works for the Turnpike Authority to take a look at their radio again while running Unitrunker 2.0 to compare notes. The issue that I had previously was, I was running Unitrunker 1.0, and some of the data was faulty when it came to one of the zones. So for now, I’m gonna hold off on making a submission update until I can further clarify a few of the talk groups that are in question.

I don't think you will find many issues. Thanks again Applenable 34 for posting, I am still shocked there is no transmitter in the Metro Newark / Metro NJ area, and they are depending on the Bloomfield site.
