Hello,
I am trying to set up my scanner feed. before I switched to RR for this feed I used windows media player. Worked fine then I stopped gettting audio.

I have now switched to RR and Scanner Cast. The Scanner puts out audio, computer speaker puts out audio but I get no audio online. I am using an IBM think pad with windows 2000 and using the think pad adapter that plugs into mic jack.

Is there some setting I need to change. Or is there something wrong with my computer.
Any help would be great. I only have one more day to get the scanner feed working.
Thanks

Did you verify the mic is not muted in windows audio/sound settings?

Did you install any new hardware just before the sound stopped working?

Do you have a line in jack that can be used instead of the mic jack?

What exactly is the adapter you are referring to?

Yes I checked to see if mic setting was muted, it was not.
No, did not install any new hardware.
No, the computer does not have a line in jack.
The way I understand the adapter, it allows you to use a line level input in the mic jack.

I'm thinking it might be a software driver issue with the computer. And being windows 2000 it would probable be a pain to find the right driver to reinstall. The computer has only be running 24/7 for about 5 years. Will spend more time with the laptop when I get it back home at the end of the month.

I think my best bet is to look for a cheap laptop with XP and use it.

I'm not familiar with the adapter you describe. Can you bypass it and just use the mic jack? Instead of XP you can always go the Linux route. For audio only feed Darkice is easy.

I did not try it with out the adapter.
Never used Linux, don't know anything about it.

I thought about finding a copy of windows 2000 OS and reloading it onto the computer but don't know where to find it. Not worth buying it.

Set your RECORDING properties, not your PLAYBACK properties. I strongly suggest using a Digital Level Meter to "see" the audio you are streaming. This will aid you in setting the level and keeping it set properly (as well as seeing that you are actually streaming something).

Using Windows 2000, where do I find the recording properties settings?
And a good place to find a cheap digital level meter?
When I used to use Windows Media player to stream it had a built in meter which was nice.
