Well,I let my fat fingers do the programing, and now I can not hear anything out of the speaker when the radio is recieving a trunked signal. I see the talkgroup flashing, but there is no sound from the speaker. I thought at first that the speaker was bad, but the radio will operate fine when I listened to the local NWS channel.

I thought I saw in a past post someone else had done the same thing, but was not able to find the post.

Any thoughts?

Ron.

PS, I should state that I did have the radio operating fine until I decided
to make a change , and then my problem.

This leads to the obvious question, what change did you make?
Number 2, what system are you scanning?

Have you tried the auto tuning mode for the BC296 & BC796
While listening to a STRONG signal press the HOLD key then
press and hold the 9 key to get to the Audio Quality mode
After you're in the Audio Quality mode and hit Priority,
the radio will auto tune it will show AUDIO TUNING1 AUDIO TUNING2 and AUDIO TUNING3
the radio will automatically tune (you can watch the numbers in the upper right dip toward 0000)
and then the radio has a double beep when it hits the optimum setting.
You can either hit E to lock in the new setting or RSM to get out of the Audio Quality mode.

I've never heard or read about that either, will it work for a 296? Where did you hear about this? It's NOWHERE in the book?

 I found my problem, I had hit the tone squelch. Reset, and I am off and running OK.
