This will be difficult to explain over text but Ive recently added a P25 system to my scanner to go with a current Motorola system and conventional system. It seems as though the scanner isnt equally scanning all 3 systems, it displays the moto system and says id searching for about 1-2 seconds but instead of displaying the other 2 equally it flashes them very quickly as if its glitching. If I need to show it through video let me know

If I'm not mistaken, " ... says id searching for about 1-2 seconds ... " indicates that the scanner is not scanning, but instead is searching. Did you mean to title your post " BCD996XT not searching properly?"

Somewhere monitoring the air.
My 396xt does this to, its normal because it is possible your digital system is bigger than the analog one which is my case. Especially if you are I'd search instead of scan because the id search can be numerous. Thus displaying more on the digital system.

ID SEARCH is the mode where any TG not locked out is heard. ID SCAN is the mode where only programmed TGs are heard. If you see ID SEARCH, that system is in search mode.

That said, there is no difference in "scan" speed between ID Scan and ID Search modes. In either case, the scanner monitors the control channel for about 1-2 seconds to capture all current channel grants and updates.

Conventional systems scan as fast as it takes to go through all channels, which can be a fraction of a second.

If a trunked system is not scanning for at least 1-2 seconds, then the scanner is not able to receive any control channel for that system.
