OK...I got to thinking due to the discussion in another thread and now I'm curious about something. Where in the RR database are the NPSPAC frequencies if I download the database? Looking through the state police frequencies/talkgroups, they don't just stand out. Are they even listed there? Do I even have them programmed? I'm beginning to wonder now... help!

From the main IN DB page, under Indiana State Agencies, from the drop down box choose "Project Hoosier SAFE-T Conventional Interoperability".

Also note that the frequencies that frankcastle posted above apply to both direct and repeater mode for the NPSPAC channels. When they go direct on NPSPAC, it is on the repeater output channel, so by monitoring the repeater output channel, you'll hear it all.

I mentioned in another thread that I now scan both non-rebanded and rebanded NPSPAC channels due to rebanding being a work-in-progress, and many radios already have the rebanded channels programmed. I've actually heard some traffic on rebanded ITAC4, although it was direct (simplex) and not through a repeater. So, it may pay off to monitor the rebanded channels as well. Just subtract 15MHz from the channels above to get the rebanded versions of those channels. So, where the non-rebanded ICALL is 866.0125, the rebanded version of ICALL is 851.0125. Do the same math for the rest of them and you're set. They also all use a PL tone of 156.7 Hz.

Also, don't forget the SAFE-T statewide analog conventional talkaround channel that is seperate from the NPSPAC conventional channels. It is actually listed in the IPSC's conventional interoperability literature. It is 855.2375 with a PL of 192.8 Hz. I've heard local law enforcement and fire/EMS using the channel while working high school football games, and it seems to work out well for that purpose. I would imagine its used similarly elsewhere in the state.

Thanks for the responses...in looking at my database it appears I did not pull these in through Freescan. Now the question...how do you set these up? Do I just add them to the conventional bank I have already set up for statewide frequencies? And do you need any talkgroups associated with them?

Thanks again.

Kyle, the NPSPAC channels are analog, conventional (not trunked) channels that are either used in simplex mode or through a repeater. If you have a bank set up for conventional statewide frequencies, I'd put the NPSPAC channels there.

Thanks...I thought about that question after I posted it. I'm in the process of tweaking my database now and I think I have those where they should be. I just missed those in my previous RR downloads.

If your radio does CTCSS, don't forget to add the 156.7 Hz tone for the NPSPAC channels and 192.8 Hz tone for 855.2375 statewide talkaround; no reason to pick up random noise and interference if you don't have to.

I have programed my Uniden 895XLT with all of the NPSPAC frequencies in my Communications Center with the 156.7 Hz tone both in analog and also the re-banded frequencies and so far I have heard no radio traffic. When is a good time to hear any radio traffic? Do have any weekly test to make sure the system is working?Wouldl like to hear from anyone that might have any ideas on this.Thank You, Tim DeLong W9NES GMRS KAF3207 *Monitoring all of Metro Indianapolis/Marion County and all of Central Indiana* with Numerious Scanners/Receivers.

There is no test, there is no routine usage, and no set time when you are going to hear traffic on these in your Communications Center.

It is very hit and miss. I scan them all the time, and seldom hear anything. But, when things do pop up, its interesting.

Better punch these up in your comm center, Tim. There has been quite a bit of activity on NPSPAC-TAC1 this morning, and it sounds like its not public safety!
