Of course it is and we are because it's human nature. It'll always happen as long as humans exist. This really should be in the rant section though because its a rant about a frequency everyday same discussion over and over again like a broken record.

We can all sit here and pull our hair out and beg for it to stop but there will always be a next person to stumble on it to find it amusing or just want something to talk about. I am for it. If I am against it I wouldn't be human. Same goes for all humans that reads this forum. Oh and for the record, Every single forum on the net, there will be the same repeat of some situation in other topics.

As I sit here tuned on 14313 I hear the usual N4TAT rant and some guy playing music for an extended period of time. That wont quit until the FCC enforces NAL at the full extent of the law.

Don't ever forget the amateur spectrum is part of the public domain. Anyone can listen. To add, 14313 behavior contributes to the topic at hand in-directly.

So what do them guys accomplish out of their bad ham habits? A forum with members who disapprove of their antics we get to scoff at them for sounding CB-ish.

I know they can read here too. There are only a hand full of like 5 of them and way many more of us so if public opinion should be enough for them to straighten up and walk the narrow path then we have nothing else to talk about on 14313.

If the FCC reads this they can get an idea of public opinion. Please let the discussion continue.

I'm not sure how N4TAT gets away with what he does night after night.

Yeah, good luck with that. This crap has been going on for decades. Not just on 14.313 but other spots on the dial as well. The FCC is fully aware of what has been going on. They either simply don't care or they don't have the resources to deal with it. Every once in a while the FCC will step in and give a slap on the wrist to people like this, but sadly nothing ever gets done.

I know it's surprising to hear something like that come from me, one of the people who spend 80% of their time on this forum quoting FCC rules. I'm a firm believer in doing things the right way and abiding by the rules, but I can also admit that the FCC really just doesn't care. Amateur Radio doesn't bring any money to the table. We don't purchase spectrum, we don't have any billionaire lobbyists, we're not broadcast radio, and we don't provide life-or-death public service. Amateur Radio is a hobby, and the FCC doesn't spend much time worrying about a hobby.

Maybe it's because I've had a few drinks tonight, but that's the simple truth as I see it. I believe we should all go by the rules, but if you run across someone that's not playing by the rules, just spin the dial and ignore it. Or report it, but don't hold your breath. Hell, I'm still waiting for action to be done on an open-and-shut case I reported six months ago. I've just learned to ignore it, plenty of other frequencies out there to use.

It has to be a lack of resources combined with other priorities (as you allude to above). Things were definitely better under Riley Hollingsworth then they were before and since his tenure.

I wasn't a ham before Riley, but wasn't the FCC even more strict going back say, 30 plus years ago? This stuff would never have gone on long back then!

Why do we keep re-hashing this? You either spin the big knob on the rig or tape the cruds and file a complaint with Uncle Charlie. Even if the offender gets caught, the nonsense will be continued by others either on the same or different frequency. With all of the great people from all over the world that are on the air, we do we give LID bastids all of this free publicity? Whats next - the regurgitation of all previous NUT posts?

How about some of the nice, and fun, things that go on every day on amateur radio?

The other problem is that Canada could care less about the worst offender on the frequency VE7KFM.

I think you are dreaming about that. Long before I was a Ham, back in the late 1950's, I remember listening on 20 meter A.M. to a ham who called himself "Boston Blackie" who boomed in to the west coat all the time and was often referred to by other hams I could hear as running a "Texas Gallon". I heard him for several years until my ancient tube radio finally died and I couldn't afford another one.

Times may change, human nature changes much more slowly if at all.

Are you sure that these clowns can actually READ? In the unlikely event that they get a nastygram from Uncle Charlie, it would have to be in comic book form that someone can read to them while they're in the outhouse. Like our unruly Canadian cousin, they'll just ignore the order and keep up their drunken (or drug induced) chatter until someone puts a straight pin through their coax. The FCC is too busy selling off radio spectrum to bother about amateur radio. In their minds, we're down low on the priority list with the freebanders and kids on FRS. We need to resurrect Bary Goldwater and Riley to decontaminate or quarantine these louts.

Being a social misfit has little or nothing to do with their ability to read. Some of these guys (but certainly not all) are actually quite intelligent, and their sophomoric antics are more of an act for their own entertainment.

I don't give them the benefit of doubt. Their on-the-air actions are unworthy of the moniker of "intelligence". There is no defense worthy of comment.

Whatever. There are plenty of smart people capable of doing some really stupid things. These sorts of antics are just another example of that. I'm merely commenting on your remark about their ability to read. I don't spend a lot of time listening to the crud on 20 meters, but there's been times when I've heard an obscene, but hilariously funny and highly articulate outburst, and I've just got to acknowledge that, yeah, they can probably read.

I kind of like the idea of the loonies having a couple-two-three frequencies to do their thing and leave the vast majority of hams that play by the rules alone.

Now, this is not preferable to actual enforcement, but since very little actual enforcement is going on, better they play in their sandbox and stay there.

Nuff said....

I'd be lying if I said I didn't tune in occasionally for some nighttime entertainment.

Or W2OY...

I just think it's impressive that they never truly die off, but keep coming back like heads on a hydra...

Why is this thread still hanging around and allowed to go on and on? There have always been idiots on the air - always. And as usual this kind of person needs an audience, which you all are willing to provide. Move to another frequency or another band and get on with it.
