• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

7800? Or nx5700, 5800?
I don't give prices out other than list, only in private emails, I can quote you what you need.
First, I have to ask, have you contacted your closest dealer to you, and asked them?

I offer ham friend rates, and I am a Kenwood dealer, and now authorized warranty service center for Kenwood in Florida.

Yes sorry, not sure why I put 7800 unless I fat fingered it. I would like to give my business to a recommended dealer. Can you email me at jtr8151@gmail.com

Unless I am missing it, I see they haven't done anything with MDC1200 to reduce the "Squak" that is received from a transmitting MDC unit. For us MDC users, that would be the icing on the cake. This radio is awesome, minus that one small issue.

If anyone is at IWCE tomorrow and swings by their booth, can you please check on this. Looking for a fix for this as well to limit the squawwwwkkkk to a blip, similar to DOS mute with Motorola gear.

Anyone have pics of the display of multi deck with the basic control head? I assume it wont display multiple decks at the same time like the other head?

By the way, you can go to kenwood website and under the nx5000 information page, it shows what each head looks like .

Thanks, I have the basic head currently. Was considering adding another deck and prefer how the full control head displays it. Wasn’t sure how the basic did. Thank you.

Did Kenwood ever fix the DOS mute for MDC-1200 so you only hear a blip and not the full squaaaakkk ? And did they fix the DMR scan issue stopping on a slot regardless of the programmed talkgroup ?

Is there anyone we can call to emphasize on the MDC issue? It is really annoying.

We talked about it already, I will call again and try to get something but it then becomes a patent issue. Tell Motorola to end the EOT mdc and use only BOT.

I am still getting most of the MDC burst and we only use BOT. I very rarely get a muted MDC burst. Plus, some departments strictly use EOT, so there is a definite need.

Yes you buy P25 and DMR and turn off NXDN

I have been thinking of a workable solution for multi-mode, multi-band in my work vehicle. I'm considering an NX-5XXX stack, but I'm wanting THREE digital modes plus analog. I keep checking back here with some hope of good news.

Will Kenwood ever produce an update...or a radio line...that can do them all? Analog, P25, NXDN and DMR???

If not, why? Seems like what most people here want.

The radios can't handle it, is the word. However, if you are doing a multi-deck stack you could do it - one radio could have whatever 2 digital modes it needs for that band and another could have whatever digital modes it needs for its band. And I believe you can get two, say, VHF decks which would cover all modes.

Contact Evans KD4EFM on here as he can clarify and help you if you decide to purchase.

Thank you, Mark. That is something to think about. Hmmmm.

And yes, Evans is a good dude. I've talked to him on the radio many times in Florida when I would visit the Lakeland area for work related stuff...or on DMR Florida Statewide.
