• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I recently purchased an NX-5200 and got it programmed. The only issue I have, is that when it is scanning and receives a transmission, it does not revert back to the selected channel. Is there a fix for this, and I’m just simply looking over it?

Is there a fix? It's a programming error at worst. I don't have the software in front of me, but under scan, you'll want to be sure Revert Channel/ID is set to "selected" or "selected + talk back". Default is "last called", that way it goes back to that channel after scan resumes. Otherwise it will live on the last landed channel until another channel stops the scan.

That's 100% a programming issue. Take it back to the person that programmed it. It's not something you can fix without programming software and cable.

That’s how I currently have it programmed, and it still continues to display the last channel that received something.

The KPG-D1N gets a bit confusing with this part. You will need to check in two places, depending on exactly how your radio is set up:

Under "Zone/Channel", select "Zone Edit" for which every zone you are scanning in.
Make sure "Revert Channel" option is set to "Selected" or something that includes selected.

Sounds like a Priority Scan would be a good option for you. Set up your Priority Scan to use "selected" channel, which will take you back to whatever your channel/group knob is set to when the timer expires.

Under the "Scan" settings, "Scan Information" tab, there's a bix you can check for "Selected Channel Scan" that may also give you what you want.

The software is challenging, so using the help files can be useful.

The “selected channel scan” was what I needed, thank you!!!
