• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Have a NX5800 mobile, dual head issue: When checked, only the front t head was on, rear head off.
Checked programming, only showing control head 1. Selected KCH19 basic for control head 2.
Reprogrammed. Now it shows "WAIT" OK so how long do you wait? After 20 minutes. Powered down, waited, powered back up.

Same issue.
Disconnected rear head, front works fine, did the reverse, rear works fine. DIPPY switches all correct, cables in correct slots. Firmware latest in all.

Never seen this before. Any thoughts??

Will do firmware, again. Thought all were latest.

Thanks
when ever you modify the structure of the radio(s), it helps line things up when you do a firmware "update/push" to kick things in to gear.
That seems to be the easiest way to kick this mismatch tabokle and things just work right soon after.

Send me a screenshot when you do transceiver information on the radio. Dont need the whole spill, but like to see what it
is reporting for connected devices. That's going to be the big clue if it sees head 1, head 2, deck.

NEXT, do you have both heads turned on in the PRODUCT INFO portion?

So today. Read radio with only control head 1 hooked up, reads and writes fine. Shows Both control heads in the transceiver info read section. Powered down, plugged control head 2 back in, WAIT is displayed for as long as radio is on.

Cables to both heads are good, as I can disconnect front head, plug rear head in its place and it works fine. Power down, plug control head 1 back in, again I get WAIT. Will not power down from either control head power button. Checked dippy switches again, all correct for there location in the system. Even tried new control head interface with 2 new in box, same thing.

This one got our techs scratching there parts. never seen this issue. Best to refer to Kenwood tech support??
