• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have that but it doesn’t pull up the nx-210 as the an option for the model

You should be able to connect to the radio, select the comm port, and then read the radio.

If it really is an NX-210, and the correct comm port is set, the software will read the radio and figure out what model it is. Nothing required on your end.

If the software is not doing that, then you may not have the comm port set correctly. Use your Device Manager to find which comm port the USB programming cable is picking, and set KPG-111 correctly.

If the software is giving you an error when you try to read the radio, tell us what the error says, and we can assist you from there.

It tells me to check model name an market code

^^^^ that's the information we were missing.

That means one of a possible few things:

Tell us about the NX-200 that does work. Is it a North American market radio (has a K in the model number)?

Usually this error means one (or more) of a few things:

1. Software was activated with a different market code activation key. North American activation keys will start with 111K44———— (or in some cases 111K45)------ If your activation code was something different, then the software was set up for a different market and won't read a North American market radio.

2. The NX-210 isn't a North American market radio. Could have been recased?

3. This is an old Railroad radio, in which case I think you need different software (that is hard to get….).

My NX-200 is a k model an it works I’ve been using it for years. It’s also got the K firmware.

With the E activation key, it's running in Europe market mode. If the NX-200 is working with it, its possible you have a radio that's been recased.

The market code mismatch between the software and the NX-210 explains the error code you are getting.
