Upman, beside tg's, what is the difference between how nxdn oft and nxdn conventional work?
Is there any difference in the way that Uniden decodes the voice between these 2 modes?

The voice decoding is the same. One Frequency Trunked offers the abiity to track and filter individual talkgroups on systems that broadcast more than one talkgroup on a frequency. You can lockout individual talkgroups, and each talkgroup has its own channel label. Programming a conventional digital frequency does not allow talkgroup filtering or tracking, and you only get one channel label for the frequency.

While we are on the subject,,,,

I know of a department that utilizes 4-5 frequencies but has no CC. I hear short data bursts on, what I will refer to as, "Freq A". If there is radio traffic on Freq B, C, D, or E the traffic is always repeated on Freq A.
What kind of system is this? I have Freq A programmed as conventional but while is is sitting silent I believe the data bursts cause the bottom of the 436 display to display trunk information without any details. The pic I posted depicts what the screen will briefly display. I believe the short data bursts trigger this.

OFT for NXDN users that use group call in place of a talk group will not work. I often will scan new digital freqs this way to find the talk groups, and it's nice to have the unit IDs and tags showing while scanning known digital freqs. You will receive nothing if group call is in use. You need to know if they use group call before you program this way.
