I have NYPD aviation programed but I never anything on these freqs. I'm in Bergen County and would expect this is a pretty active freq. Am I doing something wrong or is it just quiet?
NYPD Air can come up on any NYPD frequency but they usually use SOD frequency (470.8375). I've heard them on SPEN2 (155.4750) every now and thnen. I wouldn't be surprised if they had SPEN1 (154.6800) to communicated with NJSP and towns in NJ. They use 123.1000 to communicate with other aircraft.
NYPD Helos have also come up on Monmouth County car channel (154.875/151.4) for radio checks from time to time, usually when around the Sandy Hook area.
In addition to what other already posted, I'm sure they also have access to 122.900 (which is one of the Coast Guard Helo channels).
Also, N2NOV's site lists 123.050 and 123.075 as SOD alternative aviation frequencies (which are Hudson River Heliport channels). Charlie's site also mentions 470.8625 (Citywide 3 combined operations) and 482.6875 as Citywide Interop (which I would assume includes aviation units).
i said this before somewhere else. anyone in the nyc/metro jersey area wishing to hear the helo's and not the base <especially on a scanner with outside antenna>,program in 473.8375 206.5.you will be able to hear the helo's at a pretty good distance.any major job's, you can then switch to the repeater frequency.
yes sir.that's sod's input. i listen to our local paramedic truck's that way too.their dispatch center is too busy to listen to the repeater frequency.
Wouldn't happen to have the input for highway handy would you? The dispatcher stumbling through every 30 and 10-11 bank burg is enough to drive me nuts.
