But I thought CW1/2/3 were supposed to remain clear 😤 lol

Wouldn't surprise me because of the mess that happened at the mass shooting in july. But maybe it was for the no kings protest today or just PD techs decided nah we're locking it down.
CW-1 was in the clear this morning during the testing. The surprise was hearing a few instances of the radio tech's stating what hardware they were using and the different speaker mics; hint: some company from the other side of the globe. :)

Try between 0830 and 1000 on CW-1. The radio techs were testing from at least six (6) sites, if not more.
I actually ended up hearing it on openmhz. Never thought tait would be in the game. Yes, I said it. It was on a open analog frequency lol

Is the tp9800 cheaper than moto apx models?

The multiband Tait TP9800 in "model 2" form (based on a quick search) is around $4k, but Tait TP9800 multiband quotes higher pricing when announced. I see some older contract documents with portable pricing in the $3-3.5k range. I know on the retail level, the TSM3e and TSM4e speaker mics (which I'm guessing were the "active" and "not active" mics mentioned) start at around $200. More interestingly, why wouldn't they test a single band TP9600 for the use case scenario?

Recently I was trying to find NYS Contract pricing for Tait, but I wasn't having much luck, but then again I really wasn't looking that hard. NYS Courts have/are replacing their Vertex portables with Tait.

They might want to use the radios for interops for neighboring agencies. So they want an all band radio. Im assuming this will be used for specialized units or higher ups onscene.

Question. So it seems that everything is still not encrypted based on the FM channels IE precinct 10. I heard them the other day on the scanner. I thought that NYPD was all in the dark except the last three Queens channels.

The listed Manhattan FM channels are still in the clear at this time. Manhattan conversion is still a work in progress.

Any idea what 482.6125 is used for now if anything? Used to be 111 before it was put on the same zone with 109

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong thread, but what is the presumed range of the new NYPD P25 system? Specifically, how far west and south of Manhattan (into NJ) would an NYPD-authorized user of an authorized HT possibly be able to receive transmissions?

Are you refering to the topic of this thread, the convesion of the conventional system to P25 or to the new P25 trunked system? This thread is for the conventional channels.

The thread for the trunked system, apparently still being built out so your answer may not yet be known, is:

Thanks K2...I'm referring to the current P25 conventional system in use now.
