Seriously. Granted, I do not listen to NYPD a bunch, but it sure sounds like a bit of a mess right now.
It's been relatively controlled this year between the open carriers and transmissions being stepped on leading up to midnight. Around 12:30 was a different story.

CW 1 was pretty peaceful all day yesterday until the two hours heading up to and hour after the ball dropped. Bunch of unnecessary 10-85 calls being put over for crowd control (if you’re not getting your attacked, rear end kicked, beaten, them trying to affect an arrest or an actual condition, it’s unnecessary!) and cops asking a thousand times for an eta for EMS, nothing was going through vehicle wise nor was EMS able to get through, I was just puzzled at the way things were going down like usual. I’m wondering how bad it’ll be once E hits the streets for details like this, they were bombarding the dispatcher on analog, I wonder how they’ll behave then 🤣.

Have you ever worked the New Years Eve Times Square detail?

I have, a lot.

It’s an absolute zoo. Imagine being in Yankee stadium during a playoff game. It’s loud really loud. People everywhere. Times it by 10. You can’t hear your radio. You can be 2 feet away from an assault in the pens. You cant always get in there to help. You pick up your radio and put it over.
You can’t hear the radio unless you put it in full blast up to your ear. Then while you’re doing that 25 people are coming over to you pointing out what’s going on.
While you’re trying to deal with the immediate issue in front of you another 25 people are coming up to you asking questions that have nothing to do with what’s going on.

Imagine all that going on, then a Lt or Captain who has no idea of what is going on and comes over to point out some tiny little insignificant thing that they feel is so important that it must be corrected that second.

That’s Times Square on NYE. It’s a Sh-t show.

Yes, oh and have sanitation with 40 backpack blowers and 10 push blowers and the giant jet blower plus sweeper trucks trying to clean the street.
