I have a question regarding mobile use of radar detectors, scanners or professional motorola equipment.

I live in jersey. if i travel to NYC and have permanently installed mobile radios and scanners do i need to have a radio tech remove them every time i travel to or through ny state or any other no scanner state? do i have to keep a second vehicle just to keep from getting cited, fined, or jailed?

same thing with permanently installed radar detectors (K40 is a popular one) in no radar detector states.

to to me this seems an inconvenience at minimum assenine or moronic at worst.

To me these just seem to be a form of revenue laws to screw out of state drivers of their hard earned cash.

i did not know where to stick the question. it's a combination rant and legitimate question.

Revenue laws? I can't imagine making money played a role in these laws as almost nobody has a scanner in the first place, much less a permanent mobile installation with one.

Do you have a HAM License?

I suggest you remove power from the scanners.
The professional equipment is not a problem here.

I would guess, without knowing the exact laws, that all you probably need to do is have this equipment shut OFF if you were ever pulled over. Could they give you a hard time for just having this equip in your vehicle? I don't know.
