Sounds like normal, but rather than sounding like a repeater it almost sounds like a mobile extender, if you know what I mean, Not like a normal repeater like the SO or 911
Oh ok, I see now. So yes all of Troop K sounds like that now, All 3 Zones. It is much better. Like others have mentioned it has been going on for some time now. See the thread above.

I'm not sure about other troops. I think in some places Troop F has the same setup. I don't think Troop L has this setup. But others fro that area can chime in as I don't monitor other NYSP Troops Often.

It's interesting sounding when Zone 2 and Zone 3 transmit at the same time.
It's actually horrible when both Zone 2 and 3 Transmit at the same time. Units stepping over each other like crazy. No one can hear each other or their respective dispatch center. You can also literally hear the more powerful station transmitting over someone. I remember at least 2 or 3 pursuits on 684 or 84 this past year that involved Zone 2 and 3 units and the conversation was nothing but static because everyone was talking at once. Dispatchers and troopers were becoming very angry because their message wasn't relayed or heard. What a mess.

Yeah all I get when that happens is a loud buzz. Well, good to have it.

So does that mean I will be able to hear Troop F here in Pike county PA.? Because of my location I have always heard the Sullivan county NYSP units on my scanner and 2 way radio with no issues. Orange County uses the Orange County trunked system and that I can not hear in Pike County PA.

You'll continue to hear what you hear now, however if they turn on the repeaters for Zone 1, you would hear the mobiles as well.

Seems NYSP turned off the Troop K repeaters. Guessing it’s back to the drawing board for the inter zone intererence

The repeaters are utilizing voter steering, so you will only hear the tower repeat the strongest voted signal. The interference between the zones is an issue and this seems to be the best solution for now.

Also known as “talk-back” voting.
