Oakland police officers shot

I heard the "officer safety" broadcasts on several Contra Costa channels then saw the news items regarding the incident. Details are sketchy but at least two officers were shot (though one headline mentions four and another report talks of three) during a traffic stop. One report says "condition unknown" another, "critical". The suspect or suspects (also confused reports) left by foot or in a vehicle. One report mentions two separate incidents.

Geraldo just reported minutes ago on Fox News Channel that all four officers are dead. The article at the above KCBS news link appears to agree with that report as I type this.

Good lord... that's horrible. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the families.

It appears as though most of the articles I am finding online are still stating that the officers are in critical condition (including an LA Times article that was posted about 20 minutes ago). Does anyone know what the real story is?

I am glad they killed the moron that did this. I just pray that the 4th officer can pull through this.

This is terrible. It's hard to even express how bad I feel for those officers and their families. Looks like they didn't even stand a chance, he just opened fire on them. I'll pray for them all.

All I can say is I am glad he was killed, however the loss of 4 good was far worse than what society gained by the loss of one scum.

I retired after 34 years in law enforcement. To see the death of 4 brave police officers greatly saddens me. To see citizens of the United States taunting police at the crime scene angers me beyond belief.

I retired after 34 years in law enforcement. To see the death of 4 brave police officers greatly saddens me. To see citizens of the United States taunting police at the crime scene angers me beyond belief.

I worked in Oakland for 6 years....many times at Eastmont Mall. I am not surprised of the attitude towards the police. Eastmont Mall is just around the corner from where the cops were shot & about a mile away from where the Oakland A's and the Warrior's play.

I went on 2 ride alongs with OPD back in the late 90's. I remember we walked up to a house for a mutual combat call involving a husband & wife, a bunch of kids ran up to the cop and touched his gun before we entered the house....I was shocked. When I was a kid I was mesmerized just to see the cop. I would never have had the guts to do anything like that.

Did you hear the latest about the shooter in Oakland? A witness now says that he shot the downed motorcycle officers a second time execution style. Mixon's sperm samples also match the DNA collected from a rape victim in January. He is the prime suspect in a 2007 murder according to the newscast.

This piece of ---- got what he deserved: death by cop shooting. We won't have to waste our tax $$$ on a trial for this homicidal maniac; while protesters picket the courthouse, with signs protesting against Oakland's terrorist pigs. You won't believe some of the hate coming from the idiots, who have been calling KGO since Saturday night...

The shooter's mother lives here in the Sacramento area. They had her on the news and she was saying that her son was a victim too. The whole thing makes me sick. I too am glad we no longer have to waste taxpayer $$ on this one.

It stinks more every day. Now, this child rapist is suspected of at least 5 other rapes and a suspect in a 2007 murder. The idiot who sold his guns to this convicted felon, should be jailed just like the guy in Colorado, who sold fireams to the Columbine shooters in 1998...

The funeral, scheduled for tomorrow, will cause the closure of nearly every major freeway in the Bay Area as processions from the four mortuaries make their way to the Oakland Arena. Oakland will be patrolled by officers from neighboring departments allowing the entire sworn force to attend. There will be a flyover of 20 law-enforcement helicopters and the funeral will be broadcast on several television channels.
