My feed for Ferndale/Hazel Park (Oakland Cty, Mi) went down yesterday. I found Oddcast to not be connected. Usually a restart of Oddcast has fixed this in the past, but that is not working along with restarting the computer. When I start Oddcast it is showing no connection status or audio bars even though it is connected to the internet and scanner.

Any suggestions?

I have seen posts where people are streaming with another program, what is this and how do I go about trying it??

Do the admins here need to do anything with links or will it be the same one??

Sorry - new at this.

Well I have been playing with Scannercast for a few days and cannot get it to work. The computer I had been using Oddcast with (OLD laptop) will not pick up the audio from the scanner.

I tried it on my main computer and cannot get audio. I believe there is a conflict with my sound cards. If I choose the default setting I hear my computers audio, if I choose one of the sound cards I get nothing.

I installed Oddcast on the main computer (new pc) and it does not work - same issues with the laptop. No audio showing up on the input.

I am picking up another computer tomorrow and hope to be up and running again very soon.

If you've got multiple sound cards, here is what i would suggest [not necesarily in the best order]:

1. For any sound card that you are using for streaming, you should mute the master in the Playback properties.

2. When you have multiple sound cards, keep in mind that the sound mixer by default uses the main sound card on the system. So if you go into the mixer and attempt to select the microphone or line input in the Recording controls, you may be selecting it for the wrong device.

If you're running Vista, the instructions below will be different - they are a description of what to watch out for in Windows XP.

In XP, double-click on the speaker icon in the bottom right tray. This will bring up the Play control for the default device, by default.
- Click on Options, then Properties
- select the sound card that you want to make adjustments for (for feeding)
- select Recording
- then select either Mic In or Line In, depending on which you are using as input for that feed
- make whatever volume settings you need to make

NOTE: You must select the input (Mic or Line In) in the Recording section for each device you are using for a feed - make sure the volume is adequate.

It can often be confusing with multiple sound cards because you can't always easily tell which sound card's settings you are manipulating with the mixer.

I run two sound cards (an on-board and a USB external) for two feeds. The machine is headless (no monitor), so I have no reason to have playback sound. I have muted the master control in the Playback section of the mixer for each sound card (again selecting a different sound card to work with from the mixer Options/Properties).

I then have Line-In selected in the Recording section of the mixer for each sound card and have adjusted the volume as necessary.

Your situation may be a little different since it sounds like you may be using one of your sound cards to actually play audio through speakers on your computer, and since you may be using a different OS than XP.
