Still don't have enough?? Take it from a former dispatcher....it's a pain in the behind to keep up on who is what and/or who. I would like to add just a couple of clarifications:
With almost every agency, Kilo units are K-9 cars (except the airport)
Tango units heard on County Sheriff TG's are now Taylorsville Units.
X-ray units - typically on WVCPD only, they are the NNU Dudes.
Delta units: Detectives, most of the time.
Metro units: Metro gang/metro narcotics, etc.
In SLC, you will hear call signs such as A213, B146, C916, etc. Here is an abbreviated breakdown on how they work.
A,B,C indicate the shift that they work, day, afternoon or night.
First number (almost always a 1 or 2), indicate an east or a west side car.
Last two numbers are usually the beat number.
Any time you hear a car with the call sign 916, they are in the drunk van.
Call signs in the 400's are bike officers.
D900 series cars are crime lab cars.
D700 series cars are detectives.
Now for the last couple of wrenches. You will hear frequently when a "hot" call is dispatched, they will confirm, for example, that Car37 and B220 copied the call. CarXX is the watch commander (I think). All of the unis that end in zero (C210, B180, A450, etc) are the sergeants that are on shift.
If anyone wants info on the airport PD, just let me know.
That's all for now, if it wasn't enough.
