My 2¢
Here's my current collection of serviceable radios:
• Kenwood TM-271A - Set up as a base connected to a Cushcraft ARX-2B 30 feet in the air.
• RS PRO-2096 - Mounted to the desk next to the TM-271.
• Yaesu FT-7800R - In the car I drive most often, with an Antenex QWB144 quarterwave for VHF and an Antenex Phantom TRAB4303 for UHF.
• Yaesu FT-2600M - Currently awaiting installation in another car.
• Vertex VX-150 - Tried and true, run hard and put away wet 2m portable. Still works great!
• Vertex VX-180U - First five channels are work, the rest is 70cm amateur. Has an MH-45B4B public safety speaker mike for use on the job.
• RS PRO-96 - Portable clone of the PRO-2096 for use when I'm away from the shack.
• RS PRO-93 - Backup scanner. Programmed and stashed away just in case.
