My collection of gear has taken many years.Technology can be blamed for most of it.The ever changing modes, and trying to continue to follow the transmissions in my area.I live in a large metropolitan area(with Detroit nearby). It's gone from conventional scanning to CTCSS,LTR,EDACS,MOT1,MOT2,now frigging digital!!!

If I want to listen I have to upgrade,or get out of the hobby. Sometimes your purchases are bad ones too.How many times do you buy something, and it becomes obsolete,or just doesn't work right?

Anyways,I started the thread because I thought it would be interesting, and fun.It is!

I know exactly what you mean! I buy the BC100XLT and trunking comes along. I buy the BC245XLT Trunk Tracker II and rebanding comes along. I just bought the PRO-651 and promptly found out about Phase II, which the 651 doesn't do...

I'm still having fun though!

I used to have a lot more, especially handhelds.

Tunable "monitors":

Allied "5 band" portable. Nice audio, but filtering is a joke. There are dozens of identical or close to it models sold under different names. Made by LLoyd's. It used to get cellphones on VHF!

Scanners:
AOR 8000
GRE PSR-500
Icom R6
RS Pro-93, "cyclops", no display, works fine.
RS Pro-106
RS Pro-197
RS Pro-651 (New)
RS Pro-668
RS Pro 2004, tons of mods. Works great.
RS Pro 2005
Uniden Bearcat 210. Still works, but a little deaf.

HF radios.

Allied/GRE (Yes, they made it) SX-190, Two, one near mint, one sad shape. The nicer one works great.
CountyComm GP5/SSB
Hammarlund HQ-100 lots of mods.
Icom R71a Two, neither work very well.
JRC NRD-525
Kenwood R1000 (Mint)
Kenwood TS-850SAT
Radio Shack Sangean ATS-505 clone.
Yaesu FRG-7 1 mint, one rough as hell, but they both work fine.
Several old CBs.

Well, they weren't the greatest performers, even back then. They looked fantastic. A Yaesu FRG-7 will destroy it in a side by side, but it's not horrible.

Both of mine were damaged in shipment, due to the amazingly bad packing. This has happened so many times on HF radios I've bought on Ebay that I have come to expect it. My Kenwood R1000 was badly packed and it came 2000+ miles on UPS without a scratch. On the not so nice SX-190, the top has a ding in it, you can barely see it now, but it was about an inch deep when I got it. The pretty one got whacked on the dial and the dial indicator itself came off and was spinning freely when it arrived. I had to glue it back on. It works fine and is almost (You can't get them dead on on all bands anyway) dead on freq at 15MHZ.

Radios

In addition to 7 scanners (5 digital, 2 analog), I have about 50 hand helds, six amateur mobiles, and a Yaesu FT897 all band transceiver. The HTs include crystal , thumbwheel, and programmable models. All work, but batteries are a problem in the older radios.

I normally don't participate in these kind of threads because I don't want tell the whole world about everything I own. However I'm excited to share because I recently pulled the trigger and ordered a brand new UHF Motorola MOTOTRBO SLR5000 repeater for a 440 ham repeater project. The SLR5000 new 2nd gen MOTOTRBO repeater is a significant improvement over the aging 1st gen XPR8400 repeater. The SLR5000 repeater was designed from the ground up to specifically be a repeater whereas the XPR8400 was something cobbled together from a pair of mobiles. I plan to eventually add it to the DMR-MARC network. For now it will operate as a single site repeater so I can play with it and perfect it before linking it up. I should receive it in a few days and then will be programming and playing with MOTOTRBO digital.
