Anyone else hearing a "beep beep" on Hefner channel? They're not holding emergency traffic when it "beep beeps"...

Don't know what it means, maybe someone else will have more insight?

The only times I have heard any beeping is when they are going on emergency traffic, station ID or sometimes when a hot call comes out like a robbery in progress but thats the only ones I am aware of

It's probably the station ID 'cuz they are supposed to do it once every
30 minutes

I don't think it's a station id because it happens a lot more then once every 30 minutes or an hour.

Seems like maybe when there are certain units out on patrol...that's when i hear it.

I picked up something like this last year on a Okla. Cty SO freq (460.350). I asked about it on the old ScanOKC Yahoo Group, and received this explaination:
When you hear this tone, it is just the emergency traffic only tone.
Evidently, they were "holding the air" for an officer. The tone tells
someone just changing to that channel, that they should not transmit until
the all clear has been given.
Would OCPD do the same thing, I don't know.

I know OCPD does hold traffic with a marker, but there marker is just one beep. And the tones are different.

I'm off the next couple of days, if I hear it...i'll try and get a recording.

I've been looking around here some the last couple of days...
Foster, and others, what antenna are you using mobile?
I used to use my 2m/440 dual band right behind the cab of my truck (yes, very directional behind me, but couldn't bring myself to drill any holes yet), but bought a new truck and haven't got anything installed yet (too many honeydues).
They worked OK in Edmond (for Edmond TRS) but just north of town could barely hear anyone.
And yes, I have a RS magmount hanging in the outbuilding...

Really, it depends on what you listen to the most. I pretty much listen to everything around..

I've got a Pro-92 mounted in my truck with an RS 800 Duckie. For 2 other scanners, i've got the rat shack mag mount and then a RS window mount. I haven't brought myself to drill holes yet either. But the 800 duckie works wonders. It's a good antenna, and I can pretty much pick up Edmond TRS throughout the Northern half of OKC.

I also tried the mod on the rat shack mag mount for 800 and it works ok. Haven't had any complaints.

Oops, I meant to say 800, everything else is fine.

Will have to check out the 800 Duckie on the way home.

I just now only found mention of 1 mod for the RS mag mount, but it was for 2m range, to cut a .75 to 1" chunk out of the middle of the antenna. Will take a stab in the dark it's to cut a bit from the top section of the antenna.

And I'll guess I should be able to hear the "outside" part of OCPD's new TRS in Edmond and on north? Have some new & updated freqs now from here and will be comparing and reprogramming some soonly.

Also: have a 785XLT, not reinstalled yet, and pro-92, mostly for backup and the wife's vehicle, and pro-2006 sitting here above the computer.
