It's snowed, so how come this Burn Ban is still in effect?

I'd like you all to click on the link I've posted below for some of the answers to the above question. We need to remain vigilant. One thing folks could start doing is to carry a fire extinguisher and a shovel in your vehicle. If you see a small fire, you might be able to make the difference between a quick mop-up or a prolonged incident.

If the moderator doesn't allow this to stay, I understand. I figured it might tie in with the increased amount of scanning of the various fire agencies around the state.

We didn't get any precip here at all from this storm in Elk City. I hear it ended about Hinton. Still dry out here.

I have carried a rake in my pickup the last 2 years during fire season, and it has made the difference on several occasions between a small, one man job and a long drawn out ordeal, like you said!

Since about November we carry fire brooms in all of our pickups, and have a 400 gallon tank trailer with a fire pump and hose reel on it hooked up to another pickup all the time, ready to go. Seems a lot of people don't understand how fires get started.

Aviation Freq links

I was going to start a new thread but decided just to add it to this one. Our department along with 9 other departments worked down in Haskell yesterday on 4 seperate grass fires that were started by someone in the same time period. The air tankers came in very handy and were a much needed and welcome resource.

Below is a link that tells you guys a little bit about how the air tankers operate. Forgive me if this is a repost. I don't think it is.
