The P25 I’m catching for Grand County is solid but fairly loud and distorted on the BCD436HP. Clear and clean on the Icom R30. Haven’t tried on the TRX1 or 325P2 since they started going. Are others noticing this or is it an AGC setting or to do with simulcast distortion? Updated from the database today on defaults aside from range on and ID search.

the audio might be from dispatch, the fact that some are patched may make it sound worse than it should...

Dispatch side sounds pretty good but the mobile side has the distortion (usually) . Definitely sounds good and strong though that’s for sure . Arches has had a P25 channel along with an analog (same freq) going for a while and same effect but less distorted.

FCC ULS - WROZ876 - American Fork Canyon - it's a crazy spot to try and access, which I think is either done by rock climbing or helicopter.

I can see its 800 counterpart as a neighbor to Lake Mountain, just not 700. But they do need it for coverage up there, so who knows.
its the only site left thats not up, someone is going up to see if its live or not, surrounding sites doesn't show it as a neighbor..so it may not be up. it is on private property and is in a sketchy area...

Noticed the scanner had been very quiet the past few days and thought my scanner was done for. I am using the BCD436HP and have had it for about 10 years. I updated my firmware and database and then came across this post about changes to the UCA system. I live in the St George area and am still hardly hearing anything. I show good signal strength but rarely hear chatter, just once in a while. I was curious if it being now a TDMA talkgroup versus Analog has anything to do with it, but believe my scanner has that capability. Any help and thoughts would be much appreciated!

Two things yes St George has cutover to digital, the discussion is on discord. the other thing is Washington county has decided to go encryted do to criminals listening to the streamed scanner apps for Washington county and others. Like I said the discussion is on discord. Cedar City is supposed to cutover this week..

I also discovered the American Fork Canyon fill-in site isn't in the RRDB. I've got the frequencies from the FCC license, but haven't had a chance to roll up that way to get site info, and it doesn't show up as a neighbor to Lake Mountain or Cedar Hills sites either.
I took a drive up AF Canyon on Monday and there is no P25 (700MHz) signal in the canyon. There were a couple of small spots that could pick up the Clayton (P25) site, but no AF site yet. Clayton site was plenty strong at Tibble Fork reservoir.

where its private property they have to work out an agreement with them. where 800 is already there idk what they need to work out to put 700 there as well. the lines are already going across/above the road.

Cache county police/fire/ems have switched over this morning to the 700Mhz P25 system. There radio traffic can be heard on the Newton Hill site. The Cache Valley Simucast and Logan Peak 800Mhz sites are transmitting Weber County radio traffic.

Tomorrow is the big day! We should start seeing talk groups populate from Kane County on the new radio system. While coverage might be limited in northern Utah (this system was designed to not drag talk groups), we should definitely hear activity in Kane, Garfield, and Sevier counties in the next two weeks.
