• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi,

I am looking to see if anyone has a visual for me to see what the E5 control head would look like if I have one E5 control head, control both a VHF and 7/800 radio.

We are coming from Kenwood and have this set-up with a Kenwood KCH-20R control head, controlling 3 different radio's. As such, I know how that looks on Kenwood, just not on Motorola.

Unfortunately our Motorola rep is unable to provide me visuals on how that would look and how it would function... As I am a visual person, I would really like to see some images, get some information on how it functions, etc...

Thanks!

Thank you! I guess my search terms did not capture that thread. I'll review it.

The E5 control head is very nice if you don't need the full keypad of an O7. Just keep in mind the features (flashcode) you will need in order to run the dual radio setup. Both RF decks will need that enabled for dual radio operation and the same firmware version. It's more than just hardware. With that said, I run a dual 6500's on 7/800 along with an 8500 and 4500 also in a dual radio config but with O7's. I like the capabilities and features that it offers.

Have fun.

Thank you. I asked the Motorola Senior Account manager about the GA01058 option for my set-up and am awaiting an answer. However, I looked in the Motorola APX Radio Software Catalog but don't see that option in the latest version 2026-05.
