Just wondering the advantage of using one frequency trunking for p25, dmr, or nxdn instead of scanning conventionally with digital selected especially when these systems only have one talk group

With DMR you can specify slot with talkgroup. One frequency might have a TG-1 on Slot 1 and also a TG-2 on slot 2

On my 996P2 I have programmed a "one freqy DMR" along with a total of four freqys of a conv- hospital system....It reads out the "CC" and the TG's, it works great even better than just programming the freqy alone as DMR.....

Trunking means that you have several resources, either frequencies or time slots, to dispatch out to conversations.
But you probably ask for the difference between One Frequency System and a conventional frequency.
You can specify talk groups and specify parameters for them like delay and alerts and avoids and other stuff for One Frequency Systems that you cannot do to a conventional channel.

I find it easier to use One Frequency Systems as I can enter several frequencies there and keep them in more manageble groups, addition to the more flexible programming of talk groups.
