Using Windows Media Player, how do you save feeds as shortcuts on your desktop? Winamp lets you do this by "Save Playlist".

The reason why I use Winamp is because it will display the talk group ID in the track playing screen. Anything else I've used, or the built in HTML5 player won't show text tags.

The suggestions earlier are working for me. I was able to create the URL with all of the information and added it to winamp, and it's connecting fine.

so unless your a premiun subscriber your out of luck trying to use winamp to use the alpha tag features ?
If thats the case i will be deleting my account after close to 20 years.
Lots of people have to make decsions do i eat or subscribe to something.
why allow tags if only subscribers can use them?

Does anyone know how to get a desktop shortcut to a feed with WMP? I'm stumped.

Im trying to help a co worker with his issues.
I am able to log into broadcastify, find a feed, select Static URL, click play. Then copy that URL and play it via WinAmp.
My Co Worker can go thru the same steps and winamp doesnt work. It gives him a pop up to enter http login required
icecast credentials yet it still doesnt play.
http login required
using info from page 2 of this thread he has tried multiple attempts at entering his info and it still doesnt work.
yet mind works with out having to enter any info.

I have .mp3s associated with Winamp and still get that popup thing looking for a username & password.
You have to click file in Winamp then choose play url and put this information in

fill in this and where it says feedid put in the number that you want to listen to
then when you want to add more..just click on play url again and the info you put in on the first one will still be there..just delete the number and put a new number in...Winamp will save all the url's you put in..or you can add it to bookmarks each time..I have put in over 200 feedid's and did it in a couple hours...

The number of the scanner site you want will be at the end of the name of the site..just put your mouse on it and use the number to put in the userid in each case..

I had trouble at first..but this worked for me..

@blantonl The depreciation of Winamp M3U links is not ideal. I have friends who listen to my feed, who are not BCFY subs and liked seeing my alpha tags in Winamp. With Winamp M3U links now gone, an ideal replacement would be for BCFY to show alpha tags on the HTML5 player & app. I, myself have no probs with using the static URL in Winamp, but not everyone is willing (or able) to get a sub.
