The 97-57 and 5012 numbers are AAR channels.

97-57 would be a repeater on 161.565/160.965. 57-57 would be simplex on 160.965.

Not sure about CAP. The Canadian Trackside Guide might be able to shed some light on where these channels are used.

Possibly the Railroad/Railfan Monitoring forum can add some more information on the actual usage of the channels found.

Generally from what little Rail monitoring I do. The RTC channel controls the trains entering, transiting or leaving a 'zone'. These zones/tracks may be only used by a specific rail service (CN or CP etc) The trains in the zone usually all communicate on the Mainline frequency. The other frequencies are used for specific lines or yards etc.

Ooh okie doke. I tossed them into the scanner and lots of traffic on the CN01 at the moment. Can only hear the dispatcher side of the convo about departing someplace in Essex County.
