"Forts" whats the difference between the London Highway Units and the London wide area?

London Highway (1HWY01) was intended for the Highway Rangers. However, they don't use these. They stick to whatever detachment talkgroup they're in.
London Wide Area (1-LONDON) is used for units from out of the area. You often hear prisoner transport units on this talkgroup.

I think iv herd the 1HWY used once or twice... The London Wide i used alot more.. Basicly any OPP car from Essex to Brantford all have the same OPS channels in it, anything outside of that area wont have comms for any OPS channels in the SW area, Sooo they have to flip over to the London Wide channel to contact the london comm center, soo they stay on that or pop to sim11

All Zone 1 cars have the same talkgroups programmed. However the system limits what talkgoups can be used on what towers. IE, Essex can't be used on the Edgar site, for example.
Wide area groups, however...work anywhere.

Same with the BMR radio guys.. their talkgroups work all over zone 1
1HWY01 used to be patched with the Elgin & Chatham OPS groups all the time. I'm not sure if it still is or not... I dont think so.

So what would be the best tg id's to program in for the London area?
I have London City 1, East West and North, MOHZN1 Common, 1PCLON, The MTO LNDNOPS, 1OPS09, 04 and 06, So middlesex, elgin and chatham-kent and thats all i really ever hear..
I never put the london ems tac channel;s in i find them annoying. Unless i want to listen to it i lock em out all the time. The MTO channel is used alot..then MNR london channel and AYLMER are used, and of course the 3 ops channels are non stop. Some nights elgin and middlesex are patched, but for the most part its always chatham-kent and elgin patched at night.
And i dont even bother with the snow plow/twd doods. The 1PCLON is handy incase london police and LPS need to chit chat with each other. Im sure forts can fill the blanks

Must haves for me... 1OPS03, 04, 07, 08, 09 and 11. 1TAC01 thru 1TAC04. EMS London City 1, West and East. I also have EMS Tacs 1 thru 6 in as well. I have the MNR talkgroups in but really don't hear much on them... Same with the wide area talkgroups like 1London. Hear the odd prisoner transport on there or out of town unit but that's about it. BUT! They are good to have when service is being done on the towers... units will often switch to the wide area groups for the night.
That's about all I listen to on Fleetnet.... I normally have MTO Enforcement and Roads locked out as well, but this time of year I turn LAMC5 back on for the road reports.

Why not just put everything in. Who knows what'll show up at any given time. Then put it on search mode.
It's not like these radios don't have enough memory capacity to hold all this information. (To some extent) I know Zone 1 is a lil more filling then Zone 2, but you get my point.
