OPP Yankee unit

I sometimes hear OPP cars that are called Alfa on the Oxford County talkgroup. It seems that these cars generally patrol the 401.

Tonite I heard a OPP car using the prefex "Yankee." I dont remember hearing this before. Anyone in the SW are know what these cars are and what they do?

thanks for the info. I guess they would be affiliating and patching with Oxford. I wonder what air frequencies they would use out that way?

Alpha units are the Highway Safty Div guys
They can kind of roam different zones and areas.

The plane last i herd they were called Alpha Charlie 1 or AC

when i was listening to them on my pro 106 it did not say if it was a patch like it would when they patch in mike and delta units together so my guess they just take a radio up with them

All I can tell you is that it's not the air units.

I'm guessing it's some sort of specialized unit such as the truck inspectors or possibly a temporary callsign for a special event.

In previous years, all sorts of temporary callsigns were used during long weekends at Wasaga.

If it's a rarely heard callsign, then chances are it was temporary.

If it is a regular unit, then it should be popping up more often and somebody should be able to figure it out.

I was under the impression they usually fell under the 09X Paid Duty/Special Detail category.

09x only gives you 10 extra id's.

When you've got a large number of extra officers coming in, that won't do.

Easier to add another Soft ID or extra Zones.
