Using a BCD436HP I have been places in the city where the simulcast distortion is so bad the scanner is deaf, so I have had trouble too. Pulling out something that is designed to handle simulcast, it's crystal clear sitting next to the BCD436HP.

No clue... I live off Little Neck. I also have no reception issues traveling to Hilltop, Great Neck, Shore Drive areas either

I live up by Ft. Story. I currently have a BCD536 connected to a roof top antenna and a Unication Pager at a first floor window using a RS800 antenna. The Unication misses nothing while the 536 is scanning away picking up bits and pieces. During certain meteorological times (rain, wind) the 536 never hears anything. I realize I am in a hole here, but the Unication is the best. I would however mention VB is going E soon so you may want to save your money.

Does the P25 threshold settings on the 436hp make a difference? I have mine in Manual mode set to 8, instead of auto81026

Have no issues with listening to ORION or any simulcast systems from Hampton using 996T, 996XT, 996P2, & 536 with indoor & window mounted antennas.

I thought that they were going to use that money to get utilities on p25?
