Looking to see who's using what operating system.

Recently, I've decided to convert my existing systems from Win 10 to Ubuntu due to non-compatibility with 11.

What are your non-compatibility issues with Win 11?

I hate bloated Windows in any form although I have used it from its beginning and I still use 11 mainly to program radios and do some photo renaming and sorting.
I have used various forms of Linux but not worth it for my use although I would prefer it if I used the computer on a daily basis.

What's your favorite distro?

OS/2. Ok, not really. But I am buying the ArcaOS OS/2 and putting it on a VM. Back in the day I used OS/2 for probably 10 years. Ran all my work stuff off of it. And it did a fantastic job. These days I've been feeling a bit nostalgic so I'm gonna bite the bullet and install it.

Regular OS in use is Window 10 (where I can get away with it). I have a laptop and a PC that Win 11 can't be installed on, and a laptop with Win11 on it and a PC that can be upgraded to Win11. So I'll eventually upgrade the PC that can be upgraded, and before the (I think) Oct 2025 EOL date of Win 10 I'll get a new PC and laptop to replace the ones that cannot run Win11.

I don't like Win11. But I am most efficient using windows.

I've got various Linux VMs, running either Ubuntu or Almalinux.

I was able to upgrade a W10 PC to W11 even though it doesn't have TPM 2.0 using a tip from this article.

The PC has TPM 1.16 and one small registry change allowed me to do the upgrade.

Win 10 works for my needs, so no need to upgrade and potentially experience problems. I use it for tablet & PC. I also use Win7 on another tablet & PC. I also use Raspberry Pi’s. I prefer to use separate hardware for each OS versus the trials and tribulations of two or more OS‘s on one box. I’m about to run FreeBSD again as well.

My main computer uses Mac OS. I then remote into the Pi’s, Windows PC’s and another Mac using it daily. I use two monitors, sometimes three, as I need the screen real estate.

The Pi‘s need rebooting weekly, or monthly depending on what they are running. They don’t handle memory very well. Most of the other stuff runs 24/7 except for the tablets.

I've run various Ubuntu/Debian based Linux distros natively for probably close to 2 decades by now. Got various Windows VMs for the apps that won't run cleanly with wine. Got MX Linux on this particular machine. Mint has been good to me as well over the years

For PCs that have compatibility issues with Windows 11, do a Google search for Tiny 11 full OS. This is not pirated software, you still need a key, but it is a stripped down Windows 11 designed specifically for PCs that are otherwise incompatible

According to what I have read, it updates just fine. It is a valid Windows OS, with the bloatware removed. It still requires activation in order to receive updates. It takes up about 8gb hard drive space and a minimum of 2gb ram. Even Microsoft admits that even though it is not an official release, it is still a completely legal release
It is available on Git Hub, and Archive.org
Here is Microsoft official information on it
