Does any one know the talkgroup number for Ohio Highway Patrol, Lancaster Post 23? I searched the DB and didn't find it.

It's there....on the old MARCS system, which has or is about to be turned off, it's 1648, and on MARCS IP, the new system, it's not listed, but maybe hasn't been found and submitted to the database yet.

Yeah I was trying to find the MARCS-IP number as I am doing an update to my radio. I know there is a post there but I don't know the talk group number yet. Hopefully soon.

FWIW - I monitor the Zanesville South IP tower and have not seen any post 23 traffic - or more specifically, no unknown TG that would/could be Post 23.

I do hear Marcs post 23 a lot via Zanesville site so I'd almost bet they are not using IP yet.

Very little Cambridge or post 60 so far

I can confirm that, I have never heard any OSP traffic on MARCS-IP in Central Ohio.

I've herd the some of the Statehouse ops just last week , that's the first time I've seen or heard that.

I've seen some associations from Cambridge and a few other out of my area hit the Zville site.

I haven't heard any activity on MARCS-IP with OSP either. I just wanted to know if anyone knew the talkgroup number and it just hadn't been reported to the DB yet. I am eager for OSP and Columbus to switch over. It will be nice to monitor one radio system instead of three.

With the way that the poorly implemented MARCS switchover is going, you may be stuck listening to 3 systems for a long time to come.

Has any transition to a new radio system ever gone as planned. But I won't hold my breath.

Kind of harsh, switching out a statewide system with thousands of radios is no walk in the park. I believe the delay with OSP was due to interference between their mobile repeaters which link to the portables on 700MHz and the use of 700MHz channels on the new system. OSP needed to update all their mobile repeaters, not an easy task.

And I guess none of the highly paid, taxpayer subsidized radio consultant guru technologists RFI strategists ever thought to do some basic testing in advance between these two very critical pieces of radio equipment?
Seems like a no brainer to me. And I'm an idiot.

Sorry if I sound a bit cynical. I just mailed my income tax check to the State of Ohio.

I'm just kinda sick of government waste. I can only imagine what this whole MARCS IP switchover delay fiasco is costing taxpayers like me.

Speculation only, but I'll bet the problem was found during initial testing. I suspect the budget cycle played a factor in the delay. As far as the cost of the system upgrade, I believe they issued Certificates of Participation which will be paid back by the user fees they collect vs your income tax check :)

That's awesome! I will sleep better tonight knowing the OSP commander (rather than my tax dollars) will be footing the bill for the upgrade as per the rules of his Certificate of Participation agreement.
