Does the OSP still use VHF
I noticed a few OSP Cars lately that have Antenna's on the cars that look like they are VHF.

Thanks I know they are on MARCS.

But I would not have thought the antenna's I saw were in UHF range - I guess they could be

If you get a pic of what you see that could help identify

Next time I see one I will take a Photo

The one I saw was much larger - maybe carryu over from a older unit?

I doubt it. the low band units are definitely gone. maybe an area with specific mutual aid requirements?

It is possible that they have VHF for LEARN -- 154.935 and 155.37 are still licensed in some locations, even though they did cancel the licenses for those in many areas.

I think that photo is five years old.
SP406 is now driven by a Sandusky post unit.

Knowing OSHP they could very well be continuing to install antennas that aren’t wired to radios.

Because policy, manual and work order state that they must install part X to harness Y.

FWIW - I have heard the PUCO Motor Vehicle Enforcement on 155.475. It sounded like Simplex and was very much "chit-chat".

I hear some local posts doing LEERN radio checks in the wee hours of the morning but have not heard any local or OSP units in a long time.

I can verify District 5 (Piqua) and District 8 (Wilmington) are performing LEERN checks at their respective times daily. 0500 for district 5, 0800 for district 8.
