• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Keep in mind talker alias has to be enabled on the transmitting radio, and many radios don't yet have the functionality or have the functionality enabled.
That's certainly not true for ASTRO 25 systems. It doesn't matter what features the transmitting subscriber radio does or doesn't have provisioned or enabled; the OTA aliases come directly out of the system itself. You can have a 20 year old radio with no features other than bare bones P25 trunking, and as long as OTA aliases are enabled in the system, that subscriber's alias is going to get encoded over the traffic channels.

well there you go, thanks. Does the MSHP?
MSHP, No. The MOSWIN system was designed mainly for the MSHP's use.

I monitor several Moswin sites as well as Slater and I've never ever seen an OTA Alias pop up in DSD+
I do see aliases for some departments in and around Madison County, IL on Starcom but I haven't seen any used by the county of Madison.

Madison Co sheriff's mobiles are hit and miss on the OTA. I have been seeing a lot of the mobiles pop up, including some with names on them. I've not seen a dispatch ID come up yet except for Collinsville and Pontoon Beach. All ISP's dispatch consoles are only numbers I'm in the process of adding them manually "here and there". Same with Madison CO Sheriff, all the dispatch consoles are only numbers.

OK, sorry for the delay. It looks like I have some updates to give. So for starters a G4 was the model this was built on. The "N" and "+" I do not have so cannot fully test on but I would like to acquire a G5+ to get it working on since that is the newest. As for HOW it works, to clear up some possible confusion, this is NOT a database of aliases that gets loaded and you then see them. It's more like how a Motorola or other subscriber work. There is an internal database with user settings, programming, etc in it. That was expanded to include a volatile table of OTA aliases. In order to show an alias for a subscriber radio the Unication must first receive that alias via the OTA process. The first time an alias is received it then gets queued (for speed) and then stored in the database at the end of the full call. Subsequent calls should then show that alias in place of the SUID. In order for this to work at all the system MUST be using OTA Alias (Group Services). For now some modifications are being worked on to try and improve the install and operation. The main focus right now is to make this work reliably and quickly and then other improvements can be made after that. For anyone concerned, this is only designed to change a small portion of the code so you can always go back to the factory firmware with Unication's own installer.

New version is coming which should also allow some logs to be collected when an install fails or after a successful install but no aliases show. The main thing to work out is cases where the mod is working just fine but the system genuinely doe snot have OTA aliases. I cannot stress enough that this mod DOES NOT include a list of all aliases known to man to be displayed. It will ONLY show them if the system actually sends them over the air.
