Is there any point in getting a scanner that covers trunked systems not including APCO-25? Example- I have the opportunity to pick up a PRO-528 for pretty cheap, but would it be any better then a simple analog non-trunking scanner?

The other trunking systems are mostly business stuff. The most interesting one in my opinion has life link III on it. Otherwise i haven't found much of interest on the other trunking systems. Checkout the database and see what the trunking systems in the area have on them and decide if its worth it to you. In my opinion the answer would be no if it does not to the digital stuff.

the price was too low to pass up, and I've been looking for something that I can easily go mobile with. I looked around on the database, but couldn't find LifeLinkIII listed anywhere, where is it?

Thanks, unclebubba. I programmed that in, and now I'm getting everything in that system, but I'm also getting IDs that aren't in the database, is there a way to ID them? (ie- 0-01-047, 0-03-062)

The only real way i know if is to listen and try and figure out from that. On that system i have everything else closed off but the life link stuff.

A couple hours listening and there's no wonder why. All the other IDs seem to be towing companies, with the exception of one ID that seems to be passenger escorts at MSP (those handicap wagons driving around the terminals). Thanks for your help; I may have more questions soon about programming, but for now I'm as happy as a clam.

Well, fire away when they come up. The scanner meeting is next weekend in Bloomington, great place to get those questions answered in person too.

I wanted to go to the meeting, but I'm doing shifts in the ICU at Abbott Northwestern all weekend. Maybe next time!

you also might be interested in RACOM which is primarily a system in Iowa, but there is some medical helicopters roaming onto the Rochester and Rosemont control channels of RACOM...

I also think there might be some Trunked systems popping up courtesy of the Feds when the RNC comes to town... I know most of the public safety operations will be on ARMER, but the Feds will probably run their own stuff...

I also have some other federal trunked systems that i monitor occasionally...
