Ottawa DMR 462.7125

In Ottawa, I am hearing DMR activity on FRS Ch7 462.7125. I am curious if anyone knows what company it is? They don't seem to talk construction or deliveries. They have a few mobile units and a base. Using color code 2. Signal is full scale in Kanata. TAFL doesn't have anything listed. Any ideas?

I commute across city for work and you'll pick up DMR on various different FRS/GMRS channels.

I picked up some near the Lees exit on the 417.

Not legal, but I suspect that ISED doesn't care.

I'll have a listen to channel 7 next time I'm passing through.

Its not uncommon for the Chinese third market radios to be set up on the FRS/GMRS frequencies using DMR. I have heard DMR on these frequencies in London, Kitchener, Hamilton, St Catharines. The users are almost certainly construction.

ISED obviously does not care and are not going to do any enforcement. There are so many signals in use that are not in TAFL (no surprise) or are using modes not shown on the license. My opinion is that the RR database is way better that the official list available from TAFL. If you identify the user don't forget to add it to the local database .

Driving in for work this afternoon, I caught that activity on Channel 7 while passing through Kanata.

The bit I caught sounded like commercial or light industrial; there is a fair amount of that in the Carp Road north/Iber Road area. I recall hearing activity on that channel in Carp village in the past, so North of the 417 is probably where it is.

I didn't hear anything else while driving through Ottawa heading east.

Use some social engineering and transmit to find out who they are and coordinate frequencies because they're interfering with your radio ops too.
